Many of them were already Singaporeans at heart – they have grown up here, studied here, worked here, and started families here. Today, it became official, and we are happy to welcome them into the family. I encouraged them to do their part to give back to the community. Many of them already do, and are active grassroots members, helping to make their community a better one. After the citizenship ceremony, I stopped by the #MerdekaGeneration roadshow in Ang Mo Kio. Was happy to see such a good turnout today (especially from the Merdeka Generation!) to learn more about the MG package, and how it will help. It is our way of saying thank you for walking together with Singapore all these years, and shaping the nation. This is the way Singapore has progressed, and will continue to progress – by sharing our varied cultures and experiences, evolving together, and enriching our society.
