Cory Richardsさんのインスタグラム写真 - (Cory RichardsInstagram)「Throughout the journey to summit Southeast Asia’s highest peak, Hkakabo Razi, the team and I passed by many religious sites such as Mingun Pahtodawgi near Mandalay, pictured here. This site has a fascinating history. These remains are the intentionally unfinished stupa project of King Bbodawpaya. The building of the temple took a tremendous toll on the state and resources and, as a result, a false prophecy was created to slowly stop the project. The prophecy has many iterations since creation, but it generally stated that when the project was complete the king would die. At abandonment, Mingun Pahtodawgi stood only 1/3 of it’s intended 150 meter height. King Bodawpaya also had a 90 ton bell cast to accompany the pagoda, and it still, to this day, holds the record of the 2nd largest ringing bell in the world.
