Aujourd’hui, intéressons-nous au Grand escalier du Louvre. - 📖 Cet escalier monumental était, au sein du Palais du Louvre, celui du Musée Napoléon. Édifié par les architectes Percier et Fontaine et inauguré en 1812, il permettait l’accès au Salon Carré et à la Rotonde d’Apollon. Il facilitait la circulation des nombreux amateurs qui se rendaient à l’événement artistique que constituait alors le Salon. - 🔎 Le somptueux décor d'origine était voulu par Napoléon et se composait de colonnes de marbre, de plafonds sculptés et ornés de peintures allégoriques et de bas-reliefs en trompe l'oeil. - ⌛ En 1855 l’escalier fut démoli, à l’exception d’un vestibule au premier étage (salles Percier et Fontaine), dans le cadre de la réorganisation du Louvre et fut remplacé par l’escalier Daru. - - - - 🌍 Wednesday it’s #LouvreHistory!
