Liu Yifei, the Chinese-born actress starring in Disney's upcoming live-action "Mulan" remake, waded into the Hong Kong protest controversy on Thursday by expressing support for the police, who anti-government demonstrators accuse of using excessive force to quell unrest. "I support the Hong Kong police. You can all attack me now. What a shame for Hong Kong," she posted on Weibo. Immediately, people began posting #BoycottMulan on Twitter, which is banned in China. The actress also received plenty of praise on Weibo, the dominant platform in China. Demonstrations in Hong Kong started in June over a now-suspended extradition bill. But since then, protester demands have expanded to include calls for greater democracy and an independent investigation into police brutality. The protesters are supposed to fight for democracy which includes free of speech, now they want to boycott for someone who supposed to have freedom of speech, how ironic. For those don’t know (I just came back from HK) exactly how violent the protesters are, they even go to Police station throwing bricks to the building, pointing lazer guns, destroying and causing damages. They destroyed others people’s cars, beating people for no reason. They definitely went overboard with their actions, and the police are humans they need to protect the city. Ever since they invaded the airport for 2 days blocking and not letting any tourists depart (even they were crying or begging, check it yourself is all in YouTube). All flights were canceled causing 76 million usd lost within 2-3 days. Affecting the innocents putting them In distraught is wrong, they lost my support right there.

I beg anyone who makes a comment try to understand what is the extradition bill about, HK has the extradition bill with 20 other countries except mainland China, it is a trap left by UK before HK was given back. And what did the bill say, any suspect about to be sent must be considered by HK judiciary authority first, which is separated from mainland, and the crime he committed MUST be international recognised, at the time, it must be serious enough to be sentenced to 7 years. I can’t find any excuse to against the bill, pls try to understand everything before shouting for democracy. Thank you very much!

@christypoonpoon By the way. are you from the UK or the US. If you are from the UK, think about your democracy. Brexit is a joke. If you are from the US, think about your democracy. The gunshots are tragedies. Democracy is just something poloticans use to make it seem that you are making the decision. It's something adults use to control the children. To give you choices. It seems that you are making a decision but actually you can't really decide anything. What's worse, the government is always free from taking responsibility for these decisions. China won't buy it. We know it rubbish

You see this democracy; free speech; freedom of association system... It works both ways!! The same protestors who want their voices heard, must accept that they're others with opposing opinions whose voices have equal right to be heard too. Also, it's important to remember, no matter how passionate people are about the cause, everyone isn't obliged to agree. So, just as there must be tolerance for the position of the pro- protests, so must there be for anti-protests....
