Swimming with whales is unlike anything on the planet. Every time I get the go to jump in the warm blue waters of Tonga to approach the humpbacks, I have a hard time believing what I’m doing. Even though some days are spent waiting hours for a couple minute encounter, the patience always pays off. This male humpback was hanging with the lovely large lady (seen below in the depths) as the two rested together well beneath the waves. Almost every time he would rise to the surface to breathe, he would turn his nose up and spin around in front of us, as if he wanted to interact and play. I may be home now with more humpbacks than I can count, but I’m already to make the journey back to this wonderful place next year.
