We’re accustomed to seeing Julia Child—who was born on this day in 1912—hooting over a slippery chicken in the kitchen. But in a book of photographs taken by her husband, Paul Child, we see her through his lens—sunbathing on a rooftop, laughing, or arranging a picnic. He can’t keep his eyes off her. Tap the link in our bio to read more about Julia Child before all the books, television, and fame. Photograph by Paul Child / © The Schlesinger Library, Radcliffe Institute, Harvard University.

Read the book, Dearie: The Remarkable Life of Julia Child by Bob Spitz if you really want to know this amazing woman. Cooking came relatively late in her very interesting life. There was so much more to her than chateaubriand!

They are some outstanding photos. If anyone finds themselves in Napa, @nvmuseumyountville has a great free exhibit of them set up with @theculinaryinstituteofamerica at CIA at Copia.

@kimbarget Stanley Tucci and Meryl Streep made that movie. The other characters - namely “Julie” were regrettable ( not Amy Adams - she’s swell!)
