Photo by Daniella Zalcman @dzalcman | On this day three years ago, a group of Lakota riders from the Standing Rock, Rosebud, and Lower Brule reservations came together on horseback to push back a police line that had formed between a group of native water protectors and the entrance to the Dakota Access Pipeline construction site. The demonstration was planned and peaceful, but was meant to signal to both the local county police and the construction team, which had begun bringing heavy machinery up the hill to finish the last segment of the pipeline, that their community was staunchly against a project they believed would have catastrophic environmental consequences and directly undermine tribal sovereignty. Today, native Hawaiians are similarly standing together at Mauna Kea to prevent the construction of the $1.4 billion Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) in a spot of deep ecological, spiritual, and cultural significance to Hawaiians. This seems to be a story we can find at any moment in post-contact American history. #standingrock #maunakea

I only wish that we could all sit and find a solution on this energy hungry societies that will be friendly to native peoples and to the environment! Only if we concentrate and build energy generating ideas for small scale we will save native lands and environment! But the rich are stupid and greedy and do not want to focus on such things as their greed for wealth has blinded them! They think that they can escape the destruction of environment cultural and physical! I wonder where they think they will escape?

Its the same all over the world.. even here in Australia. The original people of these places held the earth in the highest regard. Its the places themselves that are important not the money like all the greedy people who came to these lands. We should be listening to these original people and learning about the earth and its energy and maybe the world would be a happier place again.

I see many ignorant comments here, people judging past conquests, actions and hating on current Americans. Look around Earth, learn human history and find a more benevolent, generous, philanthropic country. We Americans have done more for humans than any country ever. I will be waiting. Defiantly and proudly 🇺🇸!!!!

And at the end of this so called peaceful protest the riders charged the police. But not a shot was fired. After 6 months of protesting the state was left with over a thousand tons of waste that was left on the so called sacred ground by protesters.

Esto es un capítulo más de toda esas emigraciones ,de esas épocas que salían más por presión que por necesidad y llegaron ala gran América a matar a sus indios para poder quitarle sus tierras
