The Grand Seiko Style was defined in 1967 with the 44GS.
In 1967 with the 44GS, the design language, the Grand Seiko Style, was defined. At its heart is an aesthetic which is expressed in every aspect of the exterior design. It is based on the Japanese fascination of the interplay of light and shadow and creates the ‘sparkle of quality’ that is an essential part of the Grand Seiko signature. Still today, every watch incorporates this language. SBGJ201 is a re-interpretation of the 44GS and is faithful to the original design, updated with the latest caliber and a new curved ridgeline on the case side.

Do they even know what they talk about? I mean this issue can't just be the IG account managers knowledge, someone in the marketing department did some major mistakes here. The vintage is a unique design and the "reissue" (its none) blends in with modern GS better than another Blackbay would do in the Tudor lineup. If youre not about loosing everyone who has been a major fan until today this the wrong way to go. 🤦♂️

the straight line between the lugs is one of the things that made the 44GS case unique and interesting; the modern version just doesn't seem right, and that bracelet doesn't do anything to make up for it.

@det.briscoe well many of those cases in the mid to late 60s share design elements, 44, 45, 61 GS, and 45, 56 KS, and I am sure I missed a couple. But they keep calling this the modern 44GS, very weird.

@chrispang05 true, you can’t find them in the wild, most of not all of them are in tight captivity!! it’s not impossible if you want to spend at least 7G for a ‘license’ 😉

@torontofriedchicken and getting rid of the “SEIKO” logo was wrong and an abomination , it’s like they are disrespecting their roots and feeling ashamed by it
