As Japan celebrates the Obon holiday season, a group of students studying abroad from the University of Oregon had the opportunity to attend a traditional festival at Ikegami Honmonji Temple in southern Tokyo. Dressed in “yukata” (summer kimono), they participated in the traditional Bon Odori dances after taking a class on the moves and the history of Obon. The festival also included street vendors selling "takoyaki" and other classic festival food. (Camryn Privette photos)

I miss Japan so much!! I have a yukata that I love so much, it would be awesome to wear it at the festival. When my husband and I backpacked around Asia, we stayed with a friend and her family in Fukuoka. Her mom sews kimonos and yukata by hand, and she gifted one to me😊 It's hands down one of my absolute favorite pieces of clothing. It's teal with yellow and pink flowers, and absolutely beautiful. I seriously miss Japan so incredibly much. It's beautiful, the people are so kind and respectful and hospitable, the food is delicious, it's just a wonderful country and I miss it so much💞
