Though the branding was a throwback, it struck me as the kind of community event that is desperately needed now—especially in small towns. There were so many great aspects of this event, from a giant foam machine to a massive slip-and-slide to an age-by-age watermelon eating contest. But the parade—complete with 20 water themed (and water emitting) floats, led by fire engines and doused by a throng of some 2,000 water-gun equipped attendees—the parade was “I remember” special. I can’t remember ever seeing that many people acting like (or simply being) happy children. There’s no catch from @abolderhumboldt, which is not a government entity. They just want a bolder Humboldt.
