Taylor Swift isn’t going to shake off the equal-pay cause of the U.S. women’s soccer team. In accepting the Icon Award at the Teen Choice Awards, Swift said it was an honor to receive the honor from co-captain Alex Morgan, who helped guide the squad to a World Cup title this summer. But Swift had a bigger message to deliver about the team’s fight against salary discrimination. “While they were winning the World Cup, they were also taking a historic stand in terms of gender equality, gender pay gap,” she told the audience in Hermosa Beach, California. “Please, please support her and her teammates because this isn’t over yet. It’s not resolved.” Swift continued to reinforce her plea to young fans. “What happened to them is unfair,” she continued. “It’s happening everywhere and they are heroes and icons for standing up.” // Watch her speech at the link in bio. // 📸: Getty Images

The women received 12 percent of revenue for the World Cup. The men only received 9 percent. The men generated much more money, so their take home was more. If the women generated as much money world wide as the men, they actually would have received more money than the men. Taylor Swift is uninformed, or she does not understand economics.

Doesn’t matter who gets up and complains about it. They aren’t doing it and that is that. Don’t like what you get paid and want to quit? Fine....quit. Shouldn’t be hard to find another purple-haired man-hating lesbian who can kick a ball.

Gender pay Gap is a myth. In sports you're paid by your popularity and the amount of money you and your team generates. Women's soccer lawyers say the amount of money generated shouldn't matter. Right. 👌 #wantitearnit

Although true, it runs much deeper than just equal pay. Revenue plays a big part, including number of views when they're playing matches. If the views aren't there, the money won't be either

Narcissistic, pampered celebrities who fail to understand an issue shouldn’t be allowed a microphone to preach to the low information set who believe what the’re told by said celebrities.

Just saw this. So stupid and uninformed. There is no "gender pay gap" when it comes to the women's soccer team. They're actually paid more than the men's team.
