Today, the planet’s largest living land mammal faces many of the same threats faced by other wildlife: habitat loss, competition for resources and space with a growing human population, and poaching. These magnificent animals shape the landscapes they inhabit, dispersing seeds for many plants, making paths for other animals, and creating clearings for trees and other plants to regenerate. It’s important to protect elephants and their habitats to ensure their future for generations to come.
