Frontwoman, bandleader, and conductor of Brooklyn-based avant-rock act called @SloppyJaneBandd, Haley Dahl has a very unique backstory.
Dahl formed the prototype of Sloppy Jane at the age of 15, aiming to make something that sounded like Marilyn Manson or Hole. She got a few of her friends together and began cutting her teeth playing gigs at Sunset Strip shows.
Instead of going to college, she decided to focus on her music; then, to make money and process some intense feelings, Dahl began dancing at a strip club. During her time at the club, she reimagined her personal style, as well as her identity as a performer—and so the current iteration of Sloppy Jane was born.

@jaster4242 it’s clearly a commentary on the dual nature of self. It raises the questions who is in control of self? In the image she is the one dominating herself which would mean empowerment/control of ones on life aka self-discipline/self-control. Another way to read the image is through the sexual connotation of the leash and this still is not offensive as she is saying saying she is sexually controlled by none other than herself.
