Tasmania is regarded as one of the wildest, most pristine states in Australia. In recent years however that reputation has been tarnished by the boom of the local salmon farming industry. With environmental regulations struggling to keep pace with the industry’s growth, the marine environments that host the industry have been significantly impacted and in some cases have approached collapse. Increased scrutiny of the industry – aided by the mobile nature of ocean pen farming – has forced operators to find new locations. When the industry set their sights on opening up new territory on neighboring King Island – adjacent to the world-class waves of Martha Lavinia Beach – they were unaware they were also picking a fight with surfers worldwide.
Join the King Island community in saying NO to farmed salmon and keep King Island fish farm free.@patagonia_surf

Subject: Regarding order no :26226445
Body: Hello, I ordered 3 items to justify for shipping cost of $40 to Singapore. And till today, after 4 days I still have not received a reply to my enquiry. I think this is not aa very nice gesture Patagonia is reflecting. If 2 of my items are not being fulfilled. I think it is just courtesy to reply my email and inform me. Not just charging me $40 shipping for $20.30 purchases. I did prefer aa replacement item for the unfulfilled items to justify for such high $40 shipping charge which is more than the value of $20.30. Rediculous and so unprofessional of Patagonia. Disappointing. Totally disappointing. Please contact me, appreciate.

There are indigenous peoples in the industry and it’s the same process on all sites.... That’s ridiculous, some people are making money to feed their families and others with fish meanwhile surfers don’t do squat

Wow this is so important. Speaks to the global fish industry as a whole, too. The time to change what we eat was yesterday. Now, we have to overtly fight the industry and educate more people

Only eat wild-caught seafood - and even so, didn’t realize the environmental impact of farmed fish, thank you so much for sharing this @patagonia 🙌; beautiful and heartbreaking all at once
