It's hard to believe that it's been 12 and 9 years, respectively, since I hit my 500th and 600th home runs, both of which occurred on Aug. 4. On both occasions, I was struggling before reaching those milestones when Derek Jeter gave me a tip to help me. I remember vividly that he told me to think small, even to lay down a bunt, and that the homers would come when they were meant to come.
.
Imagine that in today's game? Most players today would just tell me to swing harder or that my launch angle was off. But not the Captain. .
It's no surprise that he was on base both times when I finally reached those milestones. Looking back, I also think about the great homer calls from Michael Kay and John Sterling. I think about my little Natasha Alexander, who wasn't even 3 years old and was at the ballpark when I hit No. 500. Today, both of my daughters, Tashi and Ella, now 14 and 11, will be at the park with me as I call the game.
.
Man, where has the time gone? Wow. #livinginthepast #goodolddays #waybackmachine

On my Birthday @arod Im a huge huge Dodgers fans. I still remember the draft when u got drafted ahead of Darren Dreifort. I was a little kid and knew how how all this draft shit worked and I was hoping you fall into the Dodgers lap but you didnt. When you were with the Rangers there were rumors that the Dodgers were interested but at the time they wanted to cut payroll which the Dodgers were owned by Fox soon to be sold to the shady McCourt family and I knew those were just rumors. I still have my high school mit of 1999 with your signature name on it. I tried to take my game from you when I played ball. You and Mike Piazza were my favorite players growing up. I hope one day I get to meet you and get my baseball cards autographed by you. But then again that a far dream. Thanks for bringing baseball joy to those that struggled in life growing up like me. You the best!!!!

Three years ago today you were forced to step into the box for your last thane after a 22 year career. The game , especially in the Bronx just isn’t the same without you. One of my favorite players to ever play the game. Thank for you all that you contributed in pinstripes and to baseball. Numbers don’t lie. You’ll always be one of my favorites. I’ll never forget watching your post game interview, and as you cried so did I. You’ll always be one of the Greats to me. ⚾️💙 #ThankYouA-Rod

Baseball is not popular in Russia, people don't know the rules, don't understand the game. Russians don't know who you are 🙊😳 But exactly 9 years ago my husband desided to take a deeper look at the baseball and bought MLB subscription. So we started to watch Yankee's games. And I loved it! Your team at that time is legendary to me 💫 I remember thinking of how amazing it must be to make 500th home run :) How time flies

True story : I had tickets to two back to back games that week. I gave one to a charity auction which ironically my friend won. On the second day when I went all the fans there said where were you yesterday? Arods 500th homer hit your empty seat. WHAT! I called my friend and asked him if he went. He said he got caught in traffic and didn’t get there till third inning and missed the hole event. Holy Cow.

I remember watching you blast both those homers and it was so amazing to witness history in the making! You were apart of the best Yankee lineup in my lifetime!!! You, as well as Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada will be among my favorite players of all time! Thank you for all the wonderful memories @arod and God Bless your family!!💙 #yankeesfanforever ⚾️😁

@teanasykes this may seem silly but this made me think about our convo today. It’s ok to take it slow, take your time, accept your small victories, “even lay down a bunt”. Bc when you catch your stride they better watch watch out! The homers will come when they’re meant to come.
