Happy Birthday to the best President of my lifetime Barack Obama.
A man I could point to and say to my son, THAT is a leader, a hard worker, a man of integrity, an against all odds victor. But a lovely, soft, faithful, educated, and measured man too.
And that’s the tea.
HBD!

@karazma in one survey of presidential historians Obama is in 8th place and in another he is 12th. I believe he will only increase in the polls and be in the top 10 for a very long time. Obama ended the Great Recession, saved the auto industry, created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, ended the Iraq war, slashed the budget deficit and signed the 21st Century Cures Act. If I was to list all his accomplishments I would exceed the word limit on Instagram. George W. Bush and Donald Trump will always be ranked in the bottom ten on the list. It's so sad that Obama had to be sandwiched between two failed Republican presidents.

@ryanparkerman True conservatives would doubtless respect Obama's personal story if not all of his policy agendas. Sadly, today's republican party appears to have very little to do with true conservatism. I'm no fan of traditional conservatism but I still infinitely prefer it to what the opposition party has become. Eisenhower wouldn't even break bread with these people, at least I would hope that would be the case.

As a person that’s to the left, Barrack Obama and Bill Clinton have been huge disappointments. They were democratic presidents who’s power was fueled by Wall Street. They are not of the same cloth as FDR, JFK, or even Johnson. They only did marginal change. I’m glad that we have Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, AOC, and Tulsi Gabbard and others rising. Time to kick the corporate democrats out!!!

@karazma you will get no argument from me regarding your list of his personal virtues. Jimmy Carter was also a man of great personal virtue, though a far less deft politician. Of course, he was a bit before your time. I can imagine the value of having such a man in the Whitehouse while raising a son.

I'm likely farther to the left than you, so I don't find Obama to be a paragon of presidential virtue. That having been said, I positively long for the days of his imperfect stewardship of our nation and weep over what we've become in his absence. Happy birthday, Barack Obama! You are missed.

@seanpatrickmeehan for me, what he embodies extends beyond the role of President. Just, a truly magnificent human. Thoughtful, empathic, sophisticated, well read, strong family man and values. No one is perfect but he is as close as I have ever seen in leadership and humanity
