When I went to bed last night, hundreds of @momsdemand volunteers were marching in DC following the horrific shooting in #elpaso. When I woke up I learned that there had been another tragic shooting in #Dayton. My outrage is exhausted and replaced by resolve to #endgunviolence. Hold your law makers responsible. If they don’t do anything and continue taking money from the #NRA VOTE THEM OUT. @everytown #GSU2019 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡💔💔💔💔💔💔

@tony.colby this has nothing to do with mental health and everything to do with social health. We are failing ourselves and each other. Democracy is broken, we a devolving into tribalism, our social networks are accessed here on devices, and not in physical, communal spaces. We speak to each other in comment threads in ways we would never dream or dare or want to face to face.
Most people with mental health problems don’t murder people. Mass shooters aren’t generally mentally ill. They are socially damaged, ignorant, uneducated, profoundly self-centred and have utterly surrendered to hatred and fear due to the fragility of their egos.

You should really stop blaming the government and the NRA for your lack of reasoning and shortcomings on this issue. It’s ridiculous. Yes these events are a tragedy to the families and to our country but “mental health” is the problem. Not guns. Texting and driving kills more people a year than alcohol and guns combined but we certainly don’t go after the phone companies. God forbid that. But yet everybody still texts and drives knowing how dangerous it is. If that’s not a mental problem then guns clearly are not either. Mental health, people. Mental health.

@paul_crocetti1 they are definitely massively inflating elements, for sure. And I blame toxic gun culture, without the deep sense of responsibility that owning a gun should bring.
I mean you could say that it’s not the atomic bomb it’s the politicians that are the problem, but I’d rather nuclear warheads were not be available at your corner Walmart, coupled with inadequate background checks, registration, or training.

Sorry but come on banning guns or making the laws tougher to get guns is not enough!! There r illegal guns on the street! If people want to kill they will find a way! We need to stop “famousizing” theses shooters! No names NOTHING about them. Can’t anyone see that it’s more then metal Heath! It’s about how they can 1 up the last shooter! Stop talking about them!

Tonight my daughter asked, “What’s going to happen tonight?” “What do you mean?” I replied. “Well, are more people going to get shot when we’re sleeping?” It broke my heart to tell her that, yes, more people will be shot when we are sleeping. Hopefully it won’t be another mass shooting, but here in the US, yes, more people will be shot tonight.
