Baby Ishy to get your weekend going!! .
Ishy is one of our American captive bred red foxes. She is not a red color- she is what is commonly called a marble color red fox. This color came about from fur farming- as fur farmers breed for color and coat quality.... we believe that with the change in social consciousness and the impact that humans have on other living beings, we will continue to see more fashion houses going fur free, more states looking to ban the sale of fur, and hopefully with the result of destroying the fur industry and closing down the fur farms in the US!! Yes, we still allow and have many fur farms in this country! Please don’t support fur farms by buying pet foxes from them or paying them for foxes.... many of them are starting to venture into the pet fox industry and selling these foxes to people as pets or selling to “pet fox breeders” for their breeding stock. These animals were not bred for tameness towards humans. They are not good companion animals. AND it just continues to support the fur farmers!!! .
Yes, Ishy is adorable... and we are thrilled that she can be an Ambassador fox to teach people about foxes. But she isn’t a very good “pet”. .

florentinblackstone Exactly that is a difficulty. My own opinion is that foxes are wild animals, and that the wilderness is their actual home. Specially to breed them for the purpose of pets to sell, well, we all know how this can look with pet shelters and abandoned pets as they became too difficult to handle for the owners, I guess these cases exists too - once more or less socialized foxes might have it more difficult in the nature than foxes who grew up there. I personally think that it is always great to rescue foxes who aren't good enough for the purpose of coat quality, since they cannot survive in the free nature on their own. But it is yet nevertheless a business for the breeders at these farms, and new foxes could take their place. The fur industry and selling of fur must be banned, that is the main problem, that is the aspect with the most impact and the best what can be done for the foxes. It is a difficult topic, a lot of owners are doing very well with their rescued foxes, and I refuse to think that this would have been a bad decision for both sides. I think that every single individual who is taken away from misery and early death is a very good thing, that every single individual matters. Additionally they already educate with showing that foxes have like lots of other animals a rich emotional life and personality, a reason why not to use them as mere property in the fur industry.
