Mom was so worried I would get nervous if I saw you before I competed. So you disguised yourself wearing all leather from your cowboy hat down to your boots, gold chains around your neck, sunglasses on, reading a newspaper inside the ice rink. And I remember warming up while my fellow teammates and coaches were all talking about this mysterious man sitting in the stands dressed up like Dick Tracy reading the paper instead of watching the skaters. Little did I know that this fashionable guy was MY grandpa, and there you were, cheering me on as I chased my dreams. I have always bragged about how cool you are. And that will never stop. You always had a smile on your face. No matter if it was a good day or bad day. Even at the age of 99. You were the heart of the Mamuri reunions. Always finding a reason to celebrate; birthdays, graduations, weddings, holidays, just life. And you always found a way to make each and every one of us feel special. Your door at Holly was always open, taking us for who we are, including our friends. It is a house full of food, warm laughter, and love to pass around and share.
