I never thought it would happen this soon. But I'm so honored. To be presented with the same award as so many who I have looked up to, who has inspired, empowered and played a part in changing my life is just crazy. Having had so much success at a young age in my golf career was such a privilege for me. I've had so many amazing opportunities. But around that time is when I started having these thoughts about my sexuality and realizing that I was different. At first I didn't want to accept it. I couldn't accept myself. I fought with my feelings for a long time. There was a part of me that wanted to hide. I didn't want to be seen. In my own head, I just wanted to be normal and have a normal life where I felt okay with being myself. Not having a place where I felt like I belong was difficult. But over time, seeing people come out who were like me and be accepted for who they were was such a huge thing for me. It kept me going and gave me a hope that I could maybe someday do that too. So now I stand here today, out and proud, and my hope is that I can inspire our youth and others that they too can be who they are. For them to feel safe when coming out. And by coming out, I don't mean having to announce it. Coming out means to just live your truth. To be authentically yourself. To be vulnerable, honest, visible. Spending the day with the HRC was really inspiring. Getting to be around allies, activists, advocates, brothers, sisters, and everything in between who are all fighting for the same causes was a special thing for me to experience. I've had the privilege to be around a bunch of different groups and communities but never have I felt this amount of passion. The love and embrace made me feel like this is my family. The LGBTQ community feels like home. I'd like to thank the Human Rights Campaign for everything they're doing and the progress they've made for me and the LGBTQ community. They've fought for us to be where we are today. Now it's our time to follow their lead and stand up for each other and continue fighting for equality.🏳️‍🌈」7月31日 8時10分 - taddy808
