For the professionals that don’t want it is usually because they probably can’t win it and don’t want to stain their reputation loosing in front of the mainstream world to an amateur contender. Snowboarding ding went through the same thing Terje hakoonsen one of the most influential snowboarders of all time boycotted the olympics not many people know of him today. And who was that other kid that did the olympics and put his ego aside to achieve something no one else had ever done and is now a house hold name in every corner of the world SHAWN WHITE.. hmmm I’d say he made the right decision .. I’m sure it was an experience money could never buy ....

Olympics , while in sporting terms still the pinnacle for some sports, is a black hole of unilateral corruption 😂 as if you’d want to go anywhere near the IOC if you were the wsl and had half a brain you’d look into it ffs smh 🤦🏾♂️ keep surfing, as saturated by commercialism as it is, as far the fuck as possible away from the bastion of corruption : the olympics.

The WCT 100% surfing in the Olympics is a joke... 1.its not an Olympic sport it's an individual sport and a lifestyle. 2. It will be boring to watch and in a sense it will be like watching an over hyped surf contest .with the same surfers... it's a ploy and a way to make money for everyone but the surfers..... it's the biggest mistake they will make in surfing 100%

Why do surfers think they are "representing their country" by competing in the Olympics? The Olympics are run by corrupt bureaucrats who take advantage of athletes for their own profit. I think all this "representing my country" talk is bogus. Let's call it what it is, you want the exposure and clout that come along with being on the international stage.

FUCK the Olympics...look what it did to snowboarding...it attracted to the sport a bunch of charismaless jocks and helicopter parents. The industry got nothing out of it. The IOC and USOC are corrupt & only want surfing ( skateboarding) for ratings and younger demos to sell their sponsorships that has very little trickle down to the athletes...FUCK ‘em!!!

ISA who? Come on guys. Forgotten. now you are drunk on the fumes of the fart from that someone who remembered you? Old paper work stuck on a desk. Work together for FS and let the best surfers in the world represent their countries. Otherwise you will fuck it all by having average surfers there and no one will care again.
