I am citizen in a country where not only medical aid but also schooling is free, ie financed via taxes. No matter the condition, illness, pregnancy etc) you consult your doctor or go to hospital where you receive proper treatment and care. This allows you to return to work quickly. And - perhaps even more importantly - you will not have to deal with the pressure/stress of having run up huge debts. Moreover, today around 60,000 young people will receive news as to whether they have been accepted into the study of their dreams - solely based on their grades. While studying they will even receive monthly grants towards covering their living expenses. This is called socialised medicine and socialised schooling (nothing to do with communism). I strongly recommend it. Please know that this is merely a contribution to your debate. I wish you all the best.

I am a newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetic with Grave's Disease. I inject 5xs per day and am currently in need of surgery pertaining to my thyroid. With my current healthcare coverage, I can work part time, only making up to $1316/month, before taxes, or lose my healthcare and other benefits. Or, I can work full-time, lose my healthcare coverage immediately, then have to wait up to 1 year for healthcare through the employer, but would have to pay 100% out of pocket for my medications, which currently cost just under $1200/month. It's a catch-22. It is making things extremely hard for me, in an already extremely difficult situation. We need your help @berniesanders

Ah... Im just thinking now about our kids, our future generation.. I don’t have kids nor do I want any but I think about my little niece and nephew, I don’t want them going through the stress we had to go through some of us from such a young age had to learn what our government is capable of doing to the people they were suppose to represent. To shift, we should build on something new to leave what doesn’t work behind. We gotta participate in getting rid of the virus that is our current corrupt government by replacing it with a new program, a new system for the people. But first, we gotta wake up.

Yes it is a right. But we shouldnt kick people off private insurance. You can't safely upheave and entire industry in the name of populism. For instance, the entire military is on tricare. Tricare is private insurance. It would be ridiculous to make millions of American military members lose their tricare and have to switch to Medicare. That kind of plan takes a decade at best to accomplish. Public option is the best transition to ensuring all Americans have Healthcare. That's why Medicare for America is a policy I support.

For everybody here saying that healthcare isn't a human right. Article 25 of the United Nations' 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that "Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services."

The people who are outraged about taxes paying for this are blind. Example, at my job I pay $1400 a month to insure my family. I am already being taxed greatly, but the money goes to a private company instead. How is this better than Medicare for all? It isn't. At all. We are already being taxed outrageously by private insurance companies.
