A historic mission to the Moon came to a successful end 50 years ago today, July 24, 1969 when Apollo 11 splashed down in the Pacific Ocean, about 900 miles from Hawaii.⁣⁣

Astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins were recovered by the crew of the USS Hornet recovery ship, where President Nixon was waiting to greet them. Despite going into quarantine for the next three weeks to avoid the possibility of spreading any lunar microbes, the Apollo 11 crew would be embraced by the world for their heroic feat.⁣⁣

t98avalon Was hoping that the Space Shuttle could take humans back to the Moon... But it looks like an updated version of the Apollo Module will be going, aka “ Orion spacecraft” along with a Luna orbiter. Me personally I think @NASA if they have not already researched into anti gravity systems not to mention a green house as rations can be a pain in the butt.

breathelooklisten Last fifty year Americans have spent 2.5 trillion dollars on NASA for what. what a waste of money could prob fix our planet with that kinda money but we did get some good data on the moon trip oh yeah they lost it all actually we don't actually know what time they even landed on it what a bunch of crooks.
