Comedian Jon Stewart smirked as he crossed paths with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in the halls of the Capitol on Tuesday, just before the Senate passed a 9/11 victims compensation fund that Stewart has long advocated for. The two men have publicly sparred over the bill, with Stewart accusing McConnell and other members of Congress of not acting swiftly enough to ensure compensation for those who were injured in the 2001 terrorist attacks. McConnell argued that senators “have never failed to address this issue.” The bill passed in the Senate 97-2 on Tuesday, and is expected to be signed by President Trump. In what is supposed to be the leading country of the world, why wasn’t it done immediately, why did it even had to be fought for and why has it taken a shameful nearly 18 years. These supposed leaders should be ashamed..?

Jon Stewart, you are a hero. Thank you for all you have done for the 911 first responders. My husband is a retired firefighter and medic in addition to a swat medic and we both stood from afar in support for you.

I don't understand. Why compensation? Why didn't they have their own insurance policies in place? What about paying other victims of terror etc. Where will it end.
