This community hall on the streets of Mumbai is made out of paper-mache and plaster. Thousands of people congregated inside for dinners, Bollywood films, and celebrations during the Ganesh festival. The hall was designed to be disassembled overnight when the 10-day festival concluded. Afterward, the street went back to normal with not a trace left behind (swipe left to see!). But every culture has its exquisite permanent buildings that to this day remind people of the greatness of achievement. And in some cases, many working families only have homes they can give to kids who will have some place without being homeless. Both temp and permanent structures have their own place in all communities

oonnajones This is impressive. However I’m taken aback, as I am in the US as well as about what concerns us. India is amongst one of the poorest countries in the world. I get it that we need to have other things in our thoughts, but what about housing and food and education for the less fortunate?

oneillschleich I'm the World Exposition (the Chicago Worlds Fair) at the turn of the twentieth century there was an entire area of multiple white buildings made this way. They were beautiful.
