🇫🇷 Le Doge sur le Bucentaure, à San Nicolo di Lido à Venise, le jour de l'Ascension de Guardi est de retour en ce #JourDeFermeture !

🖼 Le peintre illustre le moment où le Doge s'apprête à remonter à bord du Bucentaure après avoir célébré l’Ascension. L'affluence à cet événement est considérable : des gondoles de toutes sortes envahissent la lagune et forment des taches colorées se détachant précieusement sur le vert tendre de l'eau, pendant que les figures masquées bondissent, rappelant la célébration du carnaval.

🔎 Au grand ciel caressé par une lumière argentée de la partie supérieure, la moitié inférieure oppose un fourmillement de formes et de détails multicolores. Les touches de couleurs claires donnent une animation particulière à l'ensemble. La scène sert de prétexte à une description insolite de Venise et de ses monuments, dans une luminosité diaphane. L'image baigne dans le jeu mobile de la lumière, évocation fantaisiste et fugace.

🖼 The painter illustrates the moment when the Doge makes ready to board the Bucentaur after having celebrated the Ascension. It is a crowded scene: gondolas of all sorts converge on the lagoon, forming patches of color that stand out against the tender green of the sea; masked figures bustle with excitement, evoking the carnival celebrations.

🔎 The expansive sky of the upper portion, bathed in silver light, is contrasted with the lower half, which swarms with forms and multicolored details. The touches of lighter color impart a special animation to the scene. The scene provided an opportunity to create an atypical description of Venice and its monuments in a silvery, diaphanous luminosity. The work is bathed in a mobile play of light, as whimsical as it is fleeting.
