We have lost a national treasure—wonderful, beautiful Marylou Whitney has passed away. Philanthropist, horsewoman, adventurer, iconic hostess—she was all of these and so much more. Her stunning glamour and beauty were matched only by her grace and heart and spirit. I was so blessed to know her. Helmut and I send our deepest loving sympathy to her beloved John and her entire family. God bless you, Marylou.💖🙏🙏🙏

@julesrules34 I remember the Hollywood glamour she brought with her everywhere she went. I recall her clearly walking into the office in Saratoga, or just walking passed the window, impeccably dressed, always with the coordinating accessories, including the hats. She was the judge in the NYRA Beautiful Hat Contest (which I won back in the 90’s). A graceful lady, but never a pushover. My condolences to her family but also to all of us who witnessed first hand a bit of beauty and high society-only to live on in our memories. May she lead the parade on the other side. xoxo

Oh no! What a big part of Palm Beach she was! Blessings to her whole family. She will live on as her name is on several buildings. What an example she was. Surely Jesus is saying, Well done”!

@helen_proimos Awww...remember Miss Marylou from our NYRA days? The parades in Saratoga? The tent parties? The hat contests? She was a pistol! May she rest in peace.

Having grown up in Kentucky, everyone knew the name Whitney. What a wonderful philanthropist she was. And her Derby parties were legendary! Her passing is a major loss.

I’m so sorry for your loss, she was a treasure. A generous person that spread beauty and kindness to those she knew and will be miss onLong Island.

@therealsusanlucci yes, my hometown is Louisville, so the Kentucky Derby is very important to me and I still have a Derby party every year!
