@aadavidson1 They were going to start selling a diesel four cylinder turbo in the original update for the Mazda 6 (2014 I think). The engine had such high compression and burned fuel so efficiently that there was no need for a Urea tank which is the AdBlue stuff. It was better than most, if not all diesels on the market at the time. Unfortunately that didn’t meet Canada’s Automotive restrictions for Diesel engines as there was no urea tank so they had to go back to the drawing board, hence the reason it’s taken so long to bring the diesel back.

@aadavidson1 I rode in one of the preproduction ones which they used to demonstrate some of the first editions of their smart city braking and lane keep assist features. It was a fantastic car. Pickup was awesome and it made all the right noises. Plus the car looked fantastic both inside and out.

Good car for sure❤️🔥, but that’s $4000 more expensive than the turbo gas engine. Could anyone justify the reason of getting a Diesel engine for extra $4000 please? I genuinely want to know what’s good about diesel car (since I’ve never owned one)

@bestrexna you will get 4 mpg better than the cx5 I presently drive. I was looking so forward to this but it is not worth it at the fuel economy it will get. If it was getting 40mph I would have bought one.

@bestrexna it’s common sense. Saving is fuel. A reg fuel CX5 will get you approx 550 kilometres to a tank when a diesel will get you 1200 kilometres to the same tank. Horsepower in a diesel is awesome

@bestrexna $4,000 more for long term savings over a gas engine, especially a turbo one. It really comes down to what you value in the car and how much you are willing to spend on using it.
