I made the decision to not compete at the next Lead World Cup in Briançon. I’m focussing on training and preparing for the World Championships in Japan next month. I’m sad to miss this event but also very much appreciating some time at home. Good luck to all the athletes competing! I’ll be watching the live stream!

@donakate_ You usually can't imagine stuff without basic knowledge. There's a huge lifestyle branch of basketball/hoops. There are thousands of streetball tournaments (the biggest FIBA 3x3 i regulated by the official body), dunk contests, freestyle competitions alk around the world every year.So as an avid ball fan for the last 25 years I say you don't know what you're talking about 🤦♂️. The purpose of joining the OG is simple -} business. It was IFSC's idea as the see big bucks in the future. Considering the monkey mentality i say...look at miners. They work HARD EVERY DAY,five days a week for poor wage risking a lot. Can you imagine a miner going to the employer with the following:"i'll take a couple of days off because I'm tired and still you will have to pay me even though i didn't do the work"? Now compare it to a player earning millions of dollars playing games every other day and having the best med service and a three month long offseason. Now explain it to the kid that waited three moths for a game with Lebron and an hour to tipoff he finds out that LBJ needed rest. I will repeat, it's a tragedy that athletes skip WC's they would never skip because there's a chance to go to the OG..and participate in a shitty format that all athletes said is trash. When it's trash why so many want to compete in Tokyo. Except for a couple of athletes like AO who can choose their sponsors from a long line, most of the athletes see it as a chance to boost their popularity which in the end will bring more money. Olympic spirit = $.

The current situation kind of reminds me of the NBA and their problem with team resting players. They do it to lesser the load on the bodies because it is hard to play a 100 games in a season. The result is dissapointed fans. Imagine saving money, waiting a couple of months and going to a game with a child to only find out an hour before tipoff that, i.e. Lebron takes a rest this game. And usually the stars are the people that attrackt the crows. Role players don't get off days. I wonder what the organisers of the Briançon WC think seeing that many stars skipping their event? It's a tragedy for the sport as many competitors gave a heads up that this particular WC will be omitted. So glad that climbing got to the olympics and shares the OG spirit now, which is about money and fame, such a shame 🤦♂️

@skoti5 It’s a bit of a stretch trying to talk about something happening in one sport like climbing by using the example of basketball. Besides the obvious differences (one is a relatively young sport, the other is a multi-billionaire business; one is a team sport, the other is individual), the purpose of joining competitions is different. Team sports are much more entertainment than individual ones, and climbing exists (mostly, I’d say, although debatable) beyond competition. I can’t imagine the same hype for non-competitive basketball as the hype and following around outdoor climbing, which has nothing to do with regular competitions. And finally, I’d say, how about we cut some them slack? This “dance for me, monkey, I bought a ticket” mentality towards athletes is very inappropriate.

It was probably those 20 pullups you did the other day, wasn't it. DAMNIT Shauna! We talked about this! You can't be "training" or "exercising" if you want to stay in shape!

Time to mentally recover at home and relax, have you qualified for the Olympics?
