There are so few of us who have this raw imagination, this crazy way of thinking, this way of creating things so wondrous and beautiful within our tiny brains. But some of us, our imagination and childish like wonder is squashed by society. I used to be comfortable sharing my ideas with my family, until my family hated talking to me just because my ideas were so weird and bizarre. So I just stopped. I still have ideas, but they are more rare than they were when I was little. Like catching falling stars in a basket. So my heart goes out to all of those who used to have the ability to be weird and quirky and just create whatever they wanted to, but their dreams and imagination was crushed by those around us. We are like trees. We grow in whatever way life pushes us. Our imagination are our leaves. And those who believe that it’s wrong, trim our leave and branches so we look like all the other trees. We must empower others around us, encourage them to keep thinking, dreaming, creating. Or else our world will go full and colorless. Love you mr way. You changed so many of us, wether it’s by your music or your comics or just your sheer presence.

I've always encouraged my daughter to never let anyone stifle her imagination regardless of who it is, her school included. An unfettered imagination (if this is what you meant by unhinged) is to be nurtured and cherished. I used to read the wonderful Asimov Robot stories to her and she was inspired to write a short story about a robot dog who wanted to be a real dog. He eventually got his wish through lots of complex things involving space/time portals and such and emerged as a black German Shepherd (one of our dogs coincidently). She won a prize for that little tale from the school and it was hung up in the headmistresses office. A really proud moment. And guess who is one of her greatest influences and muses now she has grown and mum's words fade in importance? Yes it's you ? So respect to all those story tellers and artists who give us the means to escape from the real world, albeit for a little while.

To pay for my uni, during summer I work as a maid in a hotel. Everyday, while cleaning, I let my imagination run wild, make up stories, scenarios, heroes, fall in and out of love. I’m now writing my first piece of art. It’s called alien. It does not have anything to do with the speeches and scenarios and stories and heroes that I imagine in the morning, and it’s sad because sometimes, some of them are quite good and I don’t have time to type them down on my phone, or write them on paper :)

Umm? Are you writing about yourself, 'cause this is sooo not true. You have a fantastic imagination. You imagined creating a rock band & that you could make a difference in the world. You passed that vision onto multiple people & it happened. You imagined writing comics & fulfilling your dream as a comic writer & artist & not just same ol comics - no YOU imagined changing the landscape and effecting the world with comics. AND YOU DID. THANK YOU!

hey Gerard, I am a 15 year old writer and I do have a lot of imagination. Sometimes I think no one could understand what I have on my mind and actually nobody understood my book. It is awful and amazing at the same time, the feeling that you are unique. It takes me down sometimes and it really helps me to know that there are more different people in the world

I've been thinking about this a lot. I think there's something to be said about the human connection made via imagination. More often than not when it gets too unhinged, you loose that and are just left with potato salad. Which is okay. But still potato salad that may have gotten nasty because it was left out too long.
