Last week we opened #OlafurEliasson's ‘In Real Life’ exhibition at Tate Modern and Tate Directors took the artist’s ethical commitment to addressing environmental issues as a cue to offer a platform for discussion in partnership with artists, campaigners, artistic communities and cultural organisations. Hundreds gathered to debate in Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall.
Tate is committed to reducing its carbon footprint by at least 10% by 2023 and is switching to a green electricity tariff across all four galleries. 🍃 Find out more about our plans by clicking our bio link.

I know 10% is better than nothing and it’s great that you’re recognising the problem and working toward a solution, and will ultimately aim higher. However I think an organisation with no real obstacles, like for example governments would face, should be able to set way more ambitious targets.

The last time I was in London was 2003 for this exhibit. One of the most moving installations I have ever experienced. I remember the warmth I felt in the gallery. I felt so determined to do more. I don’t know what it takes to commit to 10% but I want you to be bolder.

Experienced this phenomenal artwork at the Tate way back when (2000ish?). Still one of the most potent and beautiful artworks I’ve ever had the pleasure to absorb. Thank you Tate and @studioolafureliasson . And fabulous news on the green front! ?

@tate does this include plans to move towards divestment? No use chipping away at your relatively small footprint if your money is still being funnelled through & helping to sustain the fossil fuel industry!

Now if the gallery world would stop flying work all over the world to fairs and biennials and then have to ship it back again. Some works must have so much carbon buildup on them it has altered them. ❣️??

I visited this exhibition today and it's a gorgeous overload on the eyeballs. Highly recommended. I never saw "The Sun" in thd Turbine Hall though.
