The Duchess of Cornwall today visited @donkeysanctuarysidmouth to celebrate the 50th anniversary of @donkeysanctuary.

The charity runs 10 sanctuaries around the UK and Europe, giving lifelong care to over 6,000 donkeys and mules.

The visit coincided with Her Royal Highness’s birthday, and as a present The Duchess was invited to name the sanctuary’s new foal! HRH decided on the name Sweetpea, and will receive updates on the little donkey’s progress as she grows up.

bryham.shelley It is always so lovely to see the Duchess with animals. She has such an affinity with them and it shows in her smile. Great name for the foal. I had a lovely pet sheep called Mrs Sweetpea. Happy birthday your Royal Highness.
