I’ve always thought that @1percentftp was a great way for companies to help make the world a slightly better place. It started as a pledge from two companies to donate 1% of their sales, regardless of profits, to support environmental causes (things like the @honnoldfoundation) Now there’s the opportunity to join as an individual - something I jumped on as soon as I learned about it. I’ve already been donating a big chunk of my income to the Honnold Foundation for years, but it makes sense to use %1 to support other projects that you care about. outsidebeingworthless Thanks for your post. Due to it, I've decided to donate 1% of my monthly salary to Wheels for the World. Like you, I've had a mindset-altering experience of seeing people drag themselves across cobblestone streets on pieces of cardboard to ask people for money. As I have had a mom with MS, I know how expensive/important wheelchairs are and how they restore a person's dignity and independence. I know you're not a big fan of social media, but keep using it to raise consciousness. So many people admire you. You are a huge influence on how people think!

giansonic Sadly they support fisher-mans, which are destroying our planet and the lives. I don’t support them until they change their stance. There’s even a picture of someone holding a fish suffocating out of water because they can’t absorb oxygen to breath like us. Fishing is torture :(

veroroju Just did some math and apparently I am currently donating exactly 1% of my yearly income already ? that said, once I’m no longer a student I can probably afford to donate more. I’ll take a look at this for sure!

newfaddict Note the hostility in so many of these posts. That’s why the world is fk’d. Even if we were able to “save” the environment, war and strife will never fade. It’s human nature, imo.
