Go behind the scenes of @devhynes's new video for “Benzo,” which Hynes directed and just debuted. The visual is an unusually ornate affair for the artist, influenced by videos that Hynes saw on MTV growing up—he cites “Zero” by the Smashing Pumpkins in particular—and director Sofia Coppola, Queen Elizabeth, and Wagnerian operas. “Every video that I do, I’m always trying to see what I can pull off directing-wise,” Hynes said. “With this one, I was wondering if I could make a Blood Orange video that was pretty grounded in surrealness.
