July’s #LoveOurGirls features the work of ONE.org and the incredible partnerships they’ve created in their goal to eradicate extreme poverty and preventable disease in Africa and other parts of the developing world. The @one Campaign and it’s army of 9 million member-activists is strictly nonpartisan and recognizes that the best solutions often come from within the communities that are impacted by the vagaries of social and economic injustice on a daily basis. With that, ONE is empowering and elevating the voices of some extraordinary woman who have come up with tools, strategies and campaigns of their own. Like “The Restorers”, an astounding group of teens who created an app to assist girls facing FGM, and Dorcas Wangira, the intrepid journalist who would not let their story be forgotten. Or Senegalese artist Black Queen and others currently campaigning to make sexual assault and domestic violence a serious crime in Senegal.
