BARBIE AS BOWIE AVAILABLE NOW “Ain’t that close to love? Well, ain’t that poster love? Well, it IS that Barbie doll...” In the year that @バービー celebrates her 60th and on the very day that Space Oddity hit half a century, toymakers Mattel have announced a new collectable doll inspired by Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust wild mutation, Aladdin Sane.
Dubbed Barbie as Bowie, the doll is dressed in one of the popular costumes sported by Bowie on his 1973 tour, including the iconic red platform boots, a Schwarzkopf ‘Red Hot Red’ mane of hair and gold disc on the forehead.
It’s not yet known if Ken will follow suit, but we reckon he would look great as Halloween Jack or The Thin White Duke.

About the "capitalizing" off of Bowie's death, he would have found this amusing and he would have loved that his designs were put on sneakers for people to wear daily. Bowie was a great marketer and did plenty of things that "pandered" to people and did a good amount of promotional "gimmicks". Bowie was one of the first major musicians to release his singles on the Internet in the Earthling era. And don't forget Bowie Bonds, which earned him over $50 million. If Bowie saw this doll or his sneakers it would probably make him smile. He capitalized upon himself all the time and laughed all the way to the bank because of it.

To everyone saying this is wrong or bad Yeah as much as I do agree with your statement at least newer genrtations can enjoy him too. The chances are someone with kids will buy it and the child will be intrested and ask who it is. With all these new merchandise even though its kinda wrong so many new people will hear the name David Bowie and the newer generation will get to feel his music magic too :)

I don’t really like it, just stop capitalizing with Bowie. This is not how we keep his memories, this is trash and not even have a message for children. For God sake why is that a woman? All the messages I received from Bowie was being regardless of sexuality, not only it opposes the Barbie, in general but also transformed into woman is another contradiction against David Bowie. So I really hate it.

This is an insult, first that fat talentless hack who they got to play in the Stardust movie and then this. Duncan and Iman have no integrity or moral values whatsoever, just hunger to get money from the fans of someone who really was talented and gifted unlike them two.

Barbie has done collaborations like this for DECADES. This isn't disrespectful in the slightest, there are some Barbie collectors and Bowie collectors alike that will love this. She's beautiful. I do think it would have been even better if the doll was male with makeup on though.
