You can now experience the Peacock Room at our @freersackler the way artist James McNeill Whistler envisioned it: full of blue-and-white ceramics.
Whistler—who was born today in 1834—created this dining room for his patron Frederick Leyland, whose shelves were stocked with Kangxi-era Chinese porcelains. Their patterns and colors inspired Whistler to redecorate the room in an abundance of blue, green and gold patterns similar to peacock plumage.

When will the sackler name be taken down from the name of the gallery, due to that family making the opioid crisis in America? Such a disgrace to carry that name on the gallery. Smithsonian should do something about it. The Louve has already taken down the name of the sackler drug dealers. So should this renowned gallery!
