The tradition of female mcs goes back literally to the beginning of hip hop. What is considered the very first example of “conscious” rap was spat by female hip hop pioneer Sweet Tee (IT) way way back in the late 1970’s and the tradition continues all the way up until today of conscious female mcs spitting truth to power and extolling virtues and lessons from entrepreneurialism to activism. Again what a record label pushes does not mean it is valid and or wholly accepted by society at large at the rates that we assume they are. Nor does it mean that the most popular examples of female mcs and their content are the norm for females mcs at large working in society. However culture is a weapon and if you don’t use it for yourself other forces will take the advantage and use it against you.

spokenby.j This is what I say! These are male perspectives coming from female mouths. I don’t understand. It doesn’t represent real women, yet then so many men will tell you “women aren’t shit” bc they believe this hype. (I have ended dates over it). There are so many females out there that actually speak a woman’s voice. Yes, women can be sexual, but not hypersexual all the time. Same goes for male rappers and other genres of music and media as well. I miss men and women making music about all facets of life, not just the club/money/fuck scene. Gotta be careful what you consume and protect your mind.

You want to listen to women who don’t rap about sex then go look for them because there’s plenty. dawill_sama Man 100% I'm teaching kids in 1st grade and they going around spitting cardi lyrics and they literally dont know what half the stuff means. It's pretty dubious how they are brainwashing our children through music.
