I can honestly say I haven’t been this terrified in a longggggg time 🏀

I am a creature of “living in my comfort zone” and have a huge fear of failure. I basically won’t even attempt to try something new if I know I won’t immediately excel at it. (This is a terrible quality... I am fully aware.) But this Monday I had the opportunity to play some basketball for an amazing cause, and who can pass that up?! Although I thought I was going to show up and just look cute from the sidelines, I was given an oversized jersey and a basketball and was thrown out on the court with some STAR athletes 😳 Did I mention i was the only girl on my team?? And I’ve never played in a full on basketball game ever in my life? I almost threw up a few times. Thankfully I was surrounded by some awesome teammates/people that guided me through warmup, drills, and encouraged me to play in the game. And I can’t forget about my loving husband who I waved to and looked at for reassurance every 5 seconds. I think I clocked a solid 1-2 minutes in the actual game but I ran off the court with a huge smile on my face and the triumphant feeling of “I DID IT!!” While @gronk @bonecollector6 @ラッシャッド・ジェニングス and @スヌープ・ドッグ high fived me, I felt like a little kid reaching for the stars.

I’m so proud of myself that I showed up. And I tried something new. It was very scary and uncomfortable but with the support and help of others I HAD A BLAST!! Thank you @50kcharitychallenge for an amazing event and for letting me play for a great cause 🧡

tvilarinho78 Thank you for sharing! Sometimes we see celebraties as these perfect images and forget you are a real person with real feelings! Living in our comfort zone is where most people are at. I was there a little over a year ago and then decided to leave it and pursue an opportunity that required to put myself out there. That meant people would also know if I failed...I didn't! ☺️

kelbret636 I just read this to my 8 and 6 year olds. They camp this week (any art camp with performance and studio art!) is themed Out On A Limb and is about trying new things. Both have a similar fear of failure (wonder where they get that from 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️) and reading this and then talking about it was a good moment for all of us! 👏👏👏💗

zkm1979 @dance10jenna thank you soooo much for sharing your insecurities. My son is the same way about feeling insecure of failure and not succeeding from the initial try. He’s finally at 13 years old begun to come out of his comfort zone and it brings tears to my eyes each time. You’re an amazing soul.
