“It was always rumored that Sagrada Familia had never registered for the proper building permits,” Janet Sanz, #Barcelona’s deputy mayor for the environment, urban planning and transportation, told @lisaabend. “When I took office, I asked my team to look into it, and we saw that for more than 130 years, they had been building without a license.” That finally changed on June 7. Sanz made a point of requiring the basilica's foundation not only to acquire the proper permits, but also to compensate the city for the effects of a century’s construction. More than two dozen architects are working on the project, and 200 workers in total are involved in construction. No need to complete. It's already the most important endeavour involving a whole city community in human history. Barcelona should treasure this accomplishment and keep his people always motivated on a larger-than-life project.

What about the amount of money the city has gotten from tourists who have come to visit the Sagrada and Gaudi’s other architectures!? Back compensation is absolutely ridiculous for an infamous landmark like this.

La muerte no es la destrucción, ni la nada, ni la aniquilación; no es el cese ni la extinción; no es la separación eterna, ni la inexistencia, ni un evento fortuito... Sígan para más.

Why compensate the city? It’s only going to slow construction by diverting the money, and the structure has probably brought in huge amounts of money through tourism

If they were such good catholics, they wouldnt have ever started a SECOND cathedral in Barcelona. Instead they should have donated all the funds to the poor.
