𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥? 🤔
@キャサリンハムネット certainly thinks so.
In 1984, she used one of her trademark slogan t-shirts to send a message to Downing Street about the increase of Pershing nuclear missiles across Europe; and in doing so created her own piece of history.

The argument that fashion shouldn’t be political is inherently flawed. How and when societies choose to sheiks the body has always been tied to ideas of religion, sexuality, independence, status, etc.

It doesn’t have to be but it often is. A t-shirt with a statement on it is probably not the most appealing way to make a political statement with fashion, though.

Increasing awareness for causes that uplift those oppressed should definitely be “allowed”, especially when fashion is most of the time reserved for the 1%

Should fashion, an industry which caters to 1st world women at the expense of 3rd world women, be political? ?
whitesneakers
I’d prefer if fashion wasn’t divisive. If anything I feel like it should be uniting.
