Marine scientists snorkel with young whale sharks that feed on plankton attracted to the lights of our boat. Every winter juvenile and sub-adult whale sharks gather off Djibouti, a small African nation, sandwiched between Somalia and Ethiopia, to feed on large scale plankton blooms caused by upwelling and fierce desert winds.
