marcus_alexis.f @matty_new I’m not disputing the influence of the Beatles They are hands down one of the most innovative bands of all time and one of my longstanding favourites. However, Ringo is the not the reason why I love them. Lennon, McCartney and Harrison shook the foundations of rock music and their musicianship is the reason why The Beatles have stood the test of time and have had such a seismic influence on popular culture. The same cannot be said for Starr. This might be purely subjective, but I generally find Starr’s drumming to be although relatively inoffensive, quite pedestrian and forgettable. I think if Starr was replaced, you’d barely be able to notice.

Again it’s not about technical ability. It’s about doing exactly what the song needs. You also seem to forget that rock drumming wasn’t really a thing at the time. He the foundation of what rock drumming is today.

matty_new @marcus_alexis.f it’s not all about technical ability. It also has to do with being able to write drum parts without doing to much which he did. He gave the swings exactly what they needed and that’s what a good drummer does. You are right about bonham and moon though but maybe give credit to the drummer in the most influential band of all time.
