This picture of BB and PB might seem like just another dog picture holding something. But it’s kind of a big deal to me. It took me weeks of training to get them comfortable standing next to each other to receive a treat. Treats around other dogs make BB nervous. I taught each one to hold the flag individually. When they were fluent in that behavior, I asked them to do that while standing close to each other—gradually decreasing the distance—without feeling uncomfortable. Can you see how relaxed they are, especially BB? PB just looks derpy-cute as usual. 🤪 I had to prove to BB that I had her back when I rewarded them in the close proximity. I figured out a way to reward both at the same time, sometimes blocking PB from sniffing towards BB. It can be quite tricky to give a cue in sign language for BB, verbal cue for PB, holding a heavy camera, reaching for treats and rewarding them effectively. So this image means a lot to me.
