The Sound of Music 🎵: Almost 200 years old, this exceptional gold quarter repeating musical watch comes from the Masterworks of Time collection to be offered by @SothebysWatches – one of the finest pocket watch collections remaining in private hands.
While musical watches during this period were not unusual, this piece stands with its miniaturised version of a music score, delicately enamelled on the dial. Probably created by Piguet & Meylan c.1810, the polychrome enamel painted dial also depicts a female figure strumming a lyre beside a lake, bathed in dreamy hues of pink and purple.
On display now in our New Bond Street galleries, this charming piece will be offered on July 2 at part of the George Daniels, Visionary sale – the first of four auctions dedicated to this magnificent collection.
