I’m so happy it’s #FeaturedTeacherFriday! #TGIFTF 📚🧠👍🏻 Meet Adam Benoit from Lincolnton, NC! Heres the message he sent me... “I have been a high school science teacher since 2005; I specialize in physics, but also teach chemistry, physical science, earth & environmental science, and pre-caclulus (one time). I love science, and I love teaching science, but I feel that my classroom is lacking in supplies that would go a long way to improve interest in STEM among my students. I have recently introduced 3D printing and computer programming into my classroom through a grant that was awarded to the school, and would love to incorporate it and other STEM related fields, to a greater extent. The lack of standard supplies and apparatus make it difficult to do so because the students need to learn the scientific and engineering skills within the curriculum in order to apply them to these other fields.
When I first arrived at Lincolnton High School each department had a budget to buy supplies. A few years later, that was taken away due to state budget cuts and getting content specific supplies has become a hassle because there wasn't enough money in the budget to go around. This has resulted in myself, and most of my colleagues, supplying our classrooms ourselves. This is difficult for the classes I teach, and I am sure most science teachers would agree, because many of the supplies are consumable and expensive. Despite that, my colleagues and I have persisted to buy supplies with our own money to be sure that our students get a proper science education. Thank you for this opportunity!” The wishlist for Adam’s classroom is in my bio. (I just sent him the printer!) 📚💗💥💪🏻 love you guys for reading and helping.

@mastetjh you get the career you chose, with a wage and benefits you agreed to. You also never gain anything by taking away from someone else. This is NOT about “getting” things. It’s about the beauty of collaboration and community for the minds that mold our children’s minds daily. I’m sorry but you are being a brat. Nurses are AMAZING, beautiful people. My Mother is a hospice nurse. But she is not paying for meds, food for her patients, materials to do her job herself. She is paying for a stethoscope and scissors. Oh and as she gets older for some good compression socks. I would be HAPPY to send you those three things if you wish. But HONESTLY you owe Mrs. Bell an apology. You’re taking something beautiful and selfless and putting a spin on it. I’m sure you’re really a wonderful person but that comment is bratty and ugly. Come on you’re better than that. You’re a healer, act like it. ❤️⭐️

@mastetjh dont think of it just as giving something to a teacher but rather as giving something that is really needed to students who otherwise wouldnt have access to it. The goal here is not just the recognition but to be able to help fight the lack of resources most public schools are dealing with. How does that concern u?

@mastetjh Teachers getting all the fame? ? Hysterical. We get paid half your salary and work from home constantly. All I ever hear is, “Gee, must be nice to have summers off.” I never hear, “Wow, it must suck to have to buy your own supplies on a crappy salary.” If you don’t like her helping teachers, unfollow her.

Kristen I love that you do this!! When my boys were in school I did all I could for their teachers and others to get their wish list items. The smallest gift to the classroom sparks such joy on the educators face. It's like saying I appreciate you and all you do. Keep up the loving gift of appreciation.❤️❤️

@mastetjh nurses don’t have to purchase their own supplies. This is a way to highlight teachers and to get them some help. I spent the first half of my career working in healthcare. The only thing a nurse has to provide is a stethoscope. Stop complaining.

My heart bursts with happiness every Friday when I see you help a teacher ❤️ thank you so much for all the love and support. I’ll be starting my 12th year teaching and love what I do, as do all the teachers I see you support! Keep kicking ass ??♀️
