The second night of the debates kicked off with some of the top contenders taking direct aim at President Donald Trump. Biden, Sanders, and Harris quickly moved to criticize the president and his 2017 tax cuts. “Donald Trump thinks Wall Street built America,” Biden said. “Ordinary middle class Americans built America.” Sanders faced a tough question on whether his proposals like Medicare for All would lead to higher taxes on the middle class. “Every proposal that I have brought forth is fully paid for,” he said, arguing that insurance premiums would be lower under his proposal. On the second of a two-night debate, the Democratic frontrunner will be up against some of his top opponents, including Sen. Harris and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
