When I launched my weekly #shopyourcloset series earlier this year, I received so many comments and questions. The comments were mostly thanking me for showing people how to breathe more life into their own respective closets. In a world of 'more more more,' I pride myself on wearing items that are years old, season after season. There is so much good stuff in your closet--you just need to look at it with new eyes! The tough part was figuring out how to care for clothes well enough that they last for years. I'm a huge believer in using the cold, delicate wash and hang dry method (a good steam or iron is usually needed) and using the dry cleaner as necessary. If you treat your clothing well, it'll do the same in return. That’s why when @downy asked me to be part of the #30Wears Challenge I jumped at the chance. Are you kidding me?! That's already what I try to do with my own closet and I am all for extending the longevity of my pieces. It turns out that the average person wears an article of clothing LESS THAN 10 TIMES before throwing it away; not only is that extremely wasteful but it's downright sad. Proper care and washing (and proper styling) can get the most of your wardrobe and I am here for that challenge. hverbuch Love this idea, and love following you for ideas. Question: so you wash everything on cold delicate, including denim, work out clothes, etc? I've been trying to up my laundry game and hopefully keep my clothes looking better longer, but am not sure whether it's necessary to separate everything in the wash ?

seeannajane @missdrcindy I’m a Tide gal. I’ve tried so many detergents but I always go back to it because I really do think it takes care of my clothes the best. I really like The Laundress, too, but I don’t purchase it as use as I purchase Tide (I like Laundress cashmere wash for my sweaters, though!)

seeannajane @hverbuch yes especially denim and workout clothes! The only thing I speed wash or wash on the cotton cycle is cotton tees, pajamas, underwear and the majority of my kids/husbands clothes ? i usually only separate colors. I’ll wash jeans with workout clothes bc i wash on delicate cold!

tracylscott18 ❤ this!! I was so excited to find you and your shop your closet idea! It has given me a new challenge to really look thru and really use what I have in different ways. It's become fun getting dressed again!!

seeannajane @genevieve_englert i don’t but need to get one. Honestly, ive always been an ironing gal since my mom taught me how when i was very young but I’ve been wanting to invest in a steamer. I’ll look around!
