Just keep this in mind as you watch these companies virtue signal...and as you choose where your dollars go. Allyship is about more than having some intern throw up some shitty graphic. Advice to these companies; try this as a starting point: DO NO HARM. #LGBTQ+ rights are human rights. If you support politicians who actively attempt to diminish those rights you stand against the unflinching tide of morality. You should and will be swept away. (Via Lisa McNulty)

I think it’s a bit of a slur to say someone is anti gay, unless they have sponsored anti gay legislation or something similar. If someone has personal religious beliefs I disagree with, but they don’t enforce them on others in practice, it’s not worth my time or energy to boycott them or otherwise punish them. Why publicity punish people for having private opinions. “Anti-Gay” is a very broad definition. When you say that, you are automatically assuming every politician is black or white- aren’t we all fighting for ‘gray area’ to be accepted? If you donated to a politician that you 100% agreed with, you wouldn’t find many. Again, private opinion doesn’t mean they are crashing a parade.

I can appreciate you making people aware, but this would make it seem as if the companies themselves are anti-gay. Donations to politicians are not an endorsement of every stance they have on every issue. I’d argue a donation is more about gaining their favor so they can get a law passed or blocked or changed. That isn’t ok either, but why tack something on to them that isn’t true? If the candidate you supported didn’t support reparations am I ok calling you anti black?

@thomas_sadoski please be mindful of The UPS Stores. They are franchises and we have no say in any of where UPS spends their dollars. But I know for a fact that our store has donated thousands to organizations and free pride banners and posters for equality -all year round. . I’m one of the biggest Allies out there. I hope this meme doesn’t take away from us small guys trying to change in small ways. ?

Please be mindful that these companies employee thousands of workers who will lose their jobs if the companies go under from lack of business because of comments like these. If you’re not fixing the problem, you are the problem. Instead of being part of a call out culture, try instead to start new companies whose CEO’s have different values so these employees can jump ship.

Until we support people and our local communities, all of our money goes to corporations that don’t care about people. We need artisan outreach and to build our communities so we can barter with each other. We need to trust people, never big business.
