No matter where in the world Anthony Bourdain went, it always felt like he took us with him. As a chef, writer, journalist, and television host, he changed not only the face of food writing, but also the way we travel. His work is poignant, funny, enlightening, and yet so familiar, embracing the common threads among people, despite our superficial differences. Our team and community are honoring his legacy on #BourdainDay today, what would have been his birthday, as someone who inspired us to be a little more curious, empathetic, and intrepid. Our Assistant Editor, @you_feta_believe_it, even drove the #AnthonyBourdainFoodTrail and fell in love with New Jersey, Bourdain's home state, along the way. You can read about her experience in our story or by tapping the link in our bio. (📸: @CNN)

What an interesting fellow he was! So open to all of life wherever he traveled and nonjudgmental. He still lives on in his reruns, but what a tragedy that he took his own life. It’s hard to recognize when someone around us is in that much pain.

I was devestated when I heard of your passing. I stayed in bed for a week. You were like my imaginary Godfather. I learned sooo much from you and I will never forget your legacy.

I really miss his shows, every video shot is awesome, even I didn't have chance to travel the world, but I know a lot of stories of each place from his voiceover!?

He truly made a path for chefs, cooks, everybody who involved in kitchen. I feel like I’ll always find a way wherever I go because of him.
